How to choose a kitchen sink

Choose an installation style for your countertop

Start with your countertop and cabinet plan. Undermount kitchen sinks sit beneath the countertop, while drop-in sinks have a rim that rests on top. Farmhouse, or apron-front, sinks have an exposed front and need a compatible cabinet arrangement. Check the selected model's installation instructions before ordering or changing an existing cutout.

Compare stainless steel, composite and fireclay

Explore stainless steel kitchen sinks alongside granite and quartz composite options and white fireclay designs. Match the material and finish to your kitchen, then review the care instructions for that model. For a darker palette, browse our black kitchen sinks. Material, finish and included accessories vary by product.

Match sink dimensions to cabinet space

Compare overall sink width, front-to-back depth, bowl depth and minimum cabinet width separately. A 33-inch sink is not the same thing as a sink for a 33-inch cabinet. Use the dimensions and minimum cabinet requirement on each product page, and check space for plumbing, a disposal, faucets and accessories. Confirm the cutout with your installer before cutting the countertop.

Single bowl, double bowl or workstation?

A single bowl provides an uninterrupted basin for larger cookware. Double bowl kitchen sinks separate washing and rinsing or food-preparation tasks. Workstation models add a ledge for compatible accessories; check the product listing to see which items are included rather than assuming every model comes with the same kit.

Planning a smaller prep area or utility space?

Explore bar and prep sinks for a secondary prep area, or laundry and utility sinks for household cleaning tasks. For installation documents and help identifying a product, visit Dcolora product support.
